A descendant of white witches, Sabine sets her heart on the dark path of revenge after the loss of her family.

After dark witches slaughter her coven, Sabine goes into hiding with the only other survivor, an old witch with a questionable past. Deep in the woods, Sabine throws off the restrictions of white magic to embrace the dark on a quest for revenge that could lead to her own destruction.

The only light in her world is Van, whose gentle humanity reminds her hope still exists in the world. He becomes her secret. When she's with Van, she's Evaine, a regular human girl. And when she's in the woods, she is Sabine, apprentice to the dark arts.
